We haven't had a normal Christmas in two years now. Last Christmas we were dealing with my Mom passing and taking care of Dad and this year Christmas was packed up in preparation for moving to our new house. Decorations were sparse, and mostly from the Dollar General with a homemade Angel!! But it has definitely given us some time to think a bit more about what new traditions might look like in a new place. We've always been so involved with Church and mailing and baking, that most years did go by in a blur.

I'm hopeful as we "reboot" our Christmas traditions we can consider the restfulness we've managed this year. The simplicity and the quiet this year has been. Maybe, just maybe, every minute doesn't have to be filled with a project.

And just to be sure 2024 is done, I built a fire and burned all of the calendars in the house!! Here's to new beginnings!!

A good reminder that the earth itself is trying to get us cozy, lazy, peaceful.

Winter Solstice is close. I love the darkness that this time brings. I create light with candles and a fire crackling in the fire place. I look forward to walking in darkness with the full moon lighting my way. Winter says “meditate and stay awhile”. Hot tea and a good book.

It’s sweater weather….enjoy
